2006 Events:

Gatineau Fly-out - Nov 4, 2006

We got rained out - so we didn't fly anywhere. However, the planning effort wasn't a total loss. We now have a contact with Vintage Wings of Canada who has agreed to a similar trip this upcoming spring.

Fun Fly Day - October 15, 2006

We flew 149 people today with eight aircraft - all using 10 pilots. It was tiring - but we had a ball.  While Keith Watson and his better-half took care of both ticket sales and aircraft dispatch, Dave & Lois coordinated the food (we made $131.00 there). And while Gord Brown took the pictures, the rest of us flew like crazy.

Fly Out to Orono, Ont (Hawke Field) - September 10, 2006

We had another great time at Hawke Field this year. Great airplanes, good food and great company.  Try to get there next year if you missed this one. It's truly one of Eastern Ontario's better aviation events.

The Fry Guys on a TGIF Mission - Sept 8, 2006

The dinner turned out great!  About 25 people showed up to see the Fry Guys on an aviation mission. Amanda made up the batter, while Dave set the battered fish to cook in hot oil.  The fish was outstanding. Even Gord's french fries were good.

Young Eagles - June 3, 2006

Our June Young Eagles event was weathered out. We'll let you know when were going to try again..

Annual General Meeting - May 30, 2006

Our 2006 Annual General Meeting (AGM) went off without a hitch this year. The progress the Club has made over the course of the last year has literally given new life to the Club.

However, we're desperately short of members who're willing to serve on the Board. If you you have any time at all consider serving on the Board and let Darren know.

Deep Fried TGIF - May 26, 2006

Today's TGIF was a great success. This was Dave and Gord's Deep Fried Turkey night with French fries. And it was great! After the two turkeys were done (donated by Quinn's Meats, in Yarker), Dave started cooking up French fries - and were they were outstanding. The turkeys are cooked at 350 Deg at 3 minutes per pound, so a 20 lb turkey takes about an hour.

Lois brought the rest of the fixin's and everyone dug in. To see a few pictures, click on the blue button to the above right.

Hanover Rust Remover - April 30th, 2006

The four Club airplanes who made it to the Hanover Rust Remover session all had a pretty good time - except for the rather nasty wind shear on the approach to Hanover's runway 19. And here I thought my landing was poor!  Everybody was having the same problem or worse. A bunch of folks even had to go around and try again. Anyway, the session itself was good and the safety stickers were mailed out the following week from TC.

The Season's first TGIF - April 21, 2006

Will Hodgkiss donated both the hotdogs as well as the cooking aprons for the event. A good time was had by all, so good that he Club raised $73.00 on just the one night. The hotdogs got some rather high praise, so kudos to Will for making them available!

Gord took a few pictures so check them out here, or using the blue button at the above right.

Picton Fly-out - April 9, 2006

Sometimes spur of the moment events are really successful. Such was the case for Sunday's fly-out breakfast to Picton.  John Donaldson from the Club brought AIQ over, and seven other owners brought themselves and friends - for a total of eight aircraft. See pictures of the event here, or using the button at the above-right.

Club Pot Luck Dinner & Movies - March 12, 2006

I suppose by now everyone's had their fill of winter and are looking for the KFC Social Events to start. On Sunday March 12th starting at 4:30pm, let's get together for a potluck and plan on running an interesting movie of 2 young people flying a couple of old aircraft to various airports in southern Ontario. Some of you may have seen this before, as a documentary on TV. It's well worth seeing again - or for the first time. The potluck will be at 5:00pm with the movie to follow.

The movie presented by Tom Harpell is Barnstormers, a really good movie about a young couple flying old airplanes into airports around the Brampton area. Word has it that Tom knows and has met the star lady pilot in the movie, you'll have to confirm this with him Sunday. Hope to see everyone out.

Kingston City Fly Over - Jan 1, 2006

Well, in light of today's weather (blowing snow), all we flew was the hangar. The tour over the City will have to wait until the weather improves. Pat and Lois brought their most excellent Chile, Gord brought Sandi's buns, and the membership showed up in fine form to ring in the New Year with tales of past flying adventures. Hot chocolate, coffee and warm conversation kept the members there for most of the day, at an otherwise cold and windswept airport.
