Even though the flying part was weathered-out, the food and the company was great. About 30 people showed up to ring in a new aviation year at the Flying Club. We ate and chatted away the afternoon. At one point the weather looked like it might clear but some low ceiling stuff came in right behind. Indeed, the photo below has everyone pointing up to the one bit of blue that was running past the Club.

Dave Tisdale chats it up with Tom Harpell's grandson as seen below discussing the subtle nuances of either Pooh bear or Dave's E6B aviation calculator. It's hard to tell what's in their hands.

In addition, Felicity McKendry gave us a short, rather sweet lesson about love. She holds her late husband's logbook which describes flight entries showing  her as being his sole CFI while he learned how to fly - in spite of other flight instructors always being available. You see, Spence insisted that Felicity give him each lesson. The two were later married.
