: Kingston City Overflight

Nine Kingston Flying Club airplanes and two from the Ontario Fun Flyers (OFF) joined together for our annual Kingston City overflight at 11:00 am on January 1, 2005. All told, twenty-three people took to the brisk January skies to celebrate an aviation New Years!

While Dave Tisdale organized the airplanes and the itinerary (see route map below), Lois organized the food and drink for our return. Dave knows a fellow aviator who happens to be in KGH hospital with cancer. While he couldn't fly with us today, his hospital window overlooks the north side of the City. Well, Dave suggested it just might be worthwhile for us to fly past the hospital on the north side and and dip a wing or two in salute - so we did.

The Flight Service people in Kingston were great. They kept the advisories coming and all of us organized in the air. The fellow had to deal with nine of us at once as well as the scheduled incoming traffic, but he did it quickly and professionally.

Hot Chile, cocoa and friendship ended the outing with lots of post-flight chatter and a number of people going back out for yet a second trip in the air. Kudos go out to both the event organizers and the Ontario Fun Flyer people as well.
