A Private Pilot License, entitles the holder to fly an aircraft with more than one passenger.  Also once the license is obtained, additional endorsements may be added with extra training.  Examples include a float-plane endorsement, VFR Over the Top rating, a night rating and/or an instrument rating. These extra endorsements serve to elevate an aviator's skill level and capabilities well above that of the casual weekend pilot.

Prerequisites: An Applicant must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or person lawfully admitted into Canada for the purpose of flight training.  An applicant may commence flight training at any age, but must be 14 years of age in order to fly solo, and 17 years of age prior to the issue of a Private Pilot License.

Medical: A Category 3 medical or higher is required prior to the issuance of a

 

Private Pilot License.  A doctor, certified as a Canadian Aviation Medical Examiner can only provide examinations.  The medical examination is not required to begin flight training, but must be in the student’s possession prior to the first solo.

Knowledge: Students must obtain a minimum of 60% on all of the following areas of the written examination. Air Law, Navigation, Meteorology, and Aeronautics (general knowledge).  Our ground school course offers excellent instruction in these subjects and more!!

Experience: Transport Canada requires a minimum of 45 hours of flight time.

Skill: Upon completion of the flight training the applicant must pass flight test conducted by a Transport Canada Designated Flight Test Examiner.
